Back in action sort of. I will only be solidly online from the sixth of Feb but here are some thoughts of mine for those who read Laurell K HAMILTON.
I have been reading a lot lately because of lack of internet and anything else to do.
I have been noticing some parallels between the Anita Blake universe and the Meredith Gentry universe. It feels like she came up with characters and put them in two different scenarios.
Often I will be reading a book from one series and feel like i am reading about a character from another series. This has happened too many times to escape my notice. Even the heroines from both series are almost replicas of each other, even the paths that they take. It feels like the author was a bit lazy when it came to character creation and decided to put all her efforts in the plots themselves. But even then, the plots are themselves similar, the only difference being that the one is about vampires and werewolves and the other about Fey-kind.
I am not sure whether i should be irritated or appreciate the different scenarios that the characters have been placed in: if Jane was a vampire hunter what would she do, if Jane was a Sidhe princess what would she do?
I was planning to buy all the books of both series when i finally marry my billionaire boyfriend, but I am not sure anymore if it would be worth it.
And on the subject of piracy
This is my opinion:
I have starved myself in the past for my loves simply because I thought it was worth it and have no regrets about it either. What I like about uploaded files is that I get to see before hand whether buying a CD or song or DVD would be worth it or not. I am poor and am not a fan of wasting money, so until you get money back guarantees for those, that is and will always be the path I will take. There are very few artists that I will buy blindly from and they all sit on my one hand.
I am the type that if I think something is worth it, will starve for the month to obtain it. I truly respect TALENT and will fork over the cash. When I start working, I will have a Music account too^^ just for CDs and concerts, put a little a month in there so that when I need it, it will be there^^. TRUTH. I just wish there was more good stuff out there instead of the crappy music and crappy production we have been getting lately. And then paste a crazy pricetag on it and expect people to buy. Not me, thank you very much... The only problem I have is the CRAZY shipping prices and that some sites don't ship to my country. But my solution to this is to get a job that either pays really well (am working towards that) or a job that will put me back in Asia again (aiming towards that too) since that is where I bought all the CDs I own. It would be BRILLIANT if I could get both but I will take what I can...
But I do understand that there are people out there who just think that they don't need to buy and that they have the right to the products put up online for illegal download. I don't appreciate those people either and I think that is what makes up the majority of internet users. Sad really...
on a side note: things be good here. No more queues. All I have to do is register online and I am done!! Thanks for the support everyone!!!!
